Welcome to Orunos. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Orunos platform, including our website, AI-powered academic tools, citation generation, literature synthesis, and document generation services (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using Orunos, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any additional policies referenced herein. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you") and Orunos ("we," "us," or "our"), a company operating in the Republic of Uganda.
Orunos is an AI-powered academic copilot designed for graduate researchers, PhD candidates, and scholars who need precision in their academic work. Our Service includes:
Orunos is designed to assist and accelerate your academic work. It is not a substitute for critical thinking, research rigor, or scholarly judgment. You remain solely responsible for the academic integrity of all work submitted under your name.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, provide false information, or engage in fraudulent activity.
Orunos operates on a pay-per-document model. Each document generation is priced based on the document type you select. The price for each document type is displayed before you confirm generation.
Pricing: All prices are quoted in Uganda Shillings (UGX). Prices are subject to change at any time, but the price displayed at the time you initiate a document generation is the price you will be charged.
Payment Methods: We accept payment through Mobile Money services (MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money) and such other payment methods as we may make available from time to time. By providing a payment method, you represent that you are authorized to use it.
Wallet: All payments are credited to your Orunos wallet. Document generation fees are deducted from your wallet balance. You are responsible for maintaining sufficient funds in your wallet to cover any document generation you initiate.
Taxes: All prices include applicable Value Added Tax (VAT) as required under the laws of the Republic of Uganda.
Due to the nature of our AI-generated academic content, refunds are generally not provided once a document has been generated and delivered to you. However, we may, at our sole discretion, issue a refund or credit in the following circumstances:
To request a refund, please contact us at support@orunos.com within 7 days of the transaction, providing your account details and the specific reason for your request. We will review all requests and respond within 5 business days.
Orunos is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. You agree to:
Citation Accuracy: While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated citations may contain errors. You must independently verify all citations against original sources. Orunos is not liable for any academic penalties resulting from incorrect citations.
You may not use Orunos to:
Violation of this section may result in immediate account suspension or termination, and we reserve the right to report violations to relevant academic institutions or authorities.
Our IP: The Orunos platform, including our AI models, algorithms, software code, user interface, logos, trademarks, and all proprietary technology, is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by intellectual property laws, including the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act and the Trademarks Act of Uganda. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
Your Content:You retain all ownership rights to the documents, research materials, and content you upload or input to Orunos ("User Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to process, analyze, and store your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
Generated Content: Content generated by Orunos AI in response to your inputs is yours to use for your personal, academic, or professional purposes. However, such content may not be unique, and you should independently verify it before use.
We process your personal data in accordance with the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 of Uganda, our Privacy Policy, and applicable data protection regulations. By using Orunos, you consent to the collection, processing, and storage of your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest. Your documents and research are never shared, sold, or used to train public AI models.
Orunos may integrate with third-party services, including reference management systems (Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote), academic databases, and payment processors. We are not responsible for the availability, terms, privacy practices, or content of third-party services. Your use of third-party integrations is at your own risk and subject to those third parties' terms.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY THE LAWS OF THE REPUBLIC OF UGANDA, ORUNOS, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM:
In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you have paid to Orunos in the six (6) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Orunos and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
By You: You may stop using the Service at any time. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us. Any remaining wallet balance will be handled in accordance with our refund policy.
By Us: We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, use the Service for illegal purposes, or if we reasonably believe your continued use poses a risk to us, other users, or third parties.
Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. We recommend exporting your data before termination. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall continue to apply.
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website, updating the "Last Updated" date, and, for significant changes, sending an email to the address associated with your account.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.
Governing Law: These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Uganda, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Dispute Resolution: Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiations between the parties. If the dispute cannot be resolved within thirty (30) days, either party may refer the matter to mediation administered by a mutually agreed mediator in Kampala, Uganda.
If mediation is unsuccessful, the dispute shall be referred to and finally resolved by the courts of the Republic of Uganda, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
In accordance with the Electronic Transactions Act, 2011 of Uganda, you acknowledge and agree that:
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Orunos regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights to any affiliate, subsidiary, or successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
